SITTING for long periods can indeed cause hip pain due to several factors;
Tight Hip Flexors: The hip flexors, at the front of your hip, can be shortened and tight from sitting.
Muscle Deactivation: Sitting for a long time can cause the hip to relax, and deactivate, causing stiffness.
Pressure on Hip Joints: Sitting continuously in one position puts pressure on your hip joints, which can cause arthritis and bursitis pain.
Poor Posture: Sitting with poor posture, or slouching, can strain the muscles and tendons around the hip, causing pain.
Reduced Blood Flow: Long periods of sitting can reduce blood flow to the hip area, causing stiffness and irritation.
STANDING for long periods can indeed cause hip pain due to several factors;
Muscle Fatigue: Standing in the same position, or too long, can strain and fatigue the muscles around the hip joint, leading to pain.
Joint Compression: Standing puts continuous pressure on the hip joints, which can aggravate conditions like arthritis.
Poor Posture: Having poor posture while standing can strain the ligaments around the hip, causing hip pain.
Reduced Blood Flow: Long periods of sitting can reduce blood flow to the hip area, causing stiffness and irritation.
How to Help Alleviate Hip Pain.
First, do not do any physical activity that causes a shooting pain, or numbness.
Take frequent breaks to stretch, extending your Range Of Motion, on each part of your body.
Motion is lotion for your joints, by incorporating exercises at different angles.
Moving each part of your body, in each direction, it is supposed to move.
Get off the couch, and watch TV from the floor, while stretching your body in poses that it needs to re-balance itself.
A foam roller may help rolling it on your thighs, hips, butt and low back.
Do not push hard when working with pain, or old injuries.
